Mothers....

They never seem to lose the ability to guilt you into just about anything do they?

Well my Mother proved again tonight, that at almost 30 years old, I am NO match for her guilt tripping abilities.

As anyone who knows me knows... I am NO sucker for my childrens' antics. I am a no nonsense Momma! I play NO games and take NO prisoners.

Tristan decided tonight to fight me a little about dinner. At first he didn't even want to try it, then decided it was too "messy" to eat and he would get so dirty... (John's child anyone?). The real reason was that Jacob dug in and finished and was able to get his snack, which was marshmellows (or marshrollers as they are known in this house). And I'm sure to Tristan's 5 year old eyes, marshmellows are a MUCH better dinner that a bean and cheese burrito. So this went on for about 30 minutes. He finally decided that enough was enough and he was no longer putting up with my telling him to eat. He was having nothing, no snack NOTHING, and was not going down quietly I might add. He complained the entire rest of the night until after 1 too many fights between them that I decided bedtime was coming early.

So we all marched upstairs to go to bed. Potties done, teeth brushed, and frowns a plenty, we went to our rooms where we begrudgingly agreed to bed.

Well about a half hour later I am on the phone with my Mother and am telling her the story, its at this time I should have said good night and just hung up the phone. She tells me that if she were here she would sneak food to him. I laugh and say "yeah ha ha ha, you would've put US to bed the same way"..... to which she replies "oh no ma'am, I would make a special dinner that you would like".... CRAP! She's right, she DID do that......another horrid traight of the Mothers, they are ALWAYS right! So this is where the guilt starts setting in as I'm hearing my Mom saying "oh Erin, he's so hungry"...."just a little something to eat Erin"...."his tummy is probably growling so hard and so loud".

ARGH! Dangit Mother! So I, the tough stick to my guns Mother than I am..... take some crackers to him (the eye rolling is beginning). And of course my Mom is on the phone still laughing her head off at me giving into her secret disguised guilt trip. THEN she has the audacity to say "CRACKERS! CRACKERS?? NOT EVEN ANY CHEESE WITH THEM???" ! Come on now! Cheese? Seriously? Guilt again..........so Tristan got applesauce too. And of course as I am handing him his food, he is scarfing it down so fast I'm surprised he didn't eat my hand with it so I feel like the crappiest mother in the world! Tristan is forever in debt to his Nana after tonight, she convinced his awful starvation teaching Mother to give him enough food to thrive for just one more night.

This is completely ridiculous, RIDICULOUS! How does my Mother still have these powers over me? HOW I ASK YOU??? I hope I still have them over my boys when they are almost 30!!!

Love you Momma! :)

Rain rain go away.....

come again some other day.

Up here in Alaska we’ve been getting tons and tons of rain. Definitely our share and somebody else’s too!

And I’ve been finding myself wishing for sunshine, which I never thought I’d ever hear in my own head lol. I’m one of those people who LOVE the rain. But lately….. I’m so done with it. I used to wish for rainy days and now I wish for sun! Funny how things change.

So as I was sitting here wishing for some sun to peek out and warm us up I had a flashback memory of my childhood.

I have said a million times how much I loved my childhood. I think I probably had the best childhood any kid could have had. I was and am so lucky for the parents I was given. During thunderstorms when I was a kid, I remember my parents getting all of the blankets and pillows out onto the living room floor in front of our big picture window. My Mom and Dad would open up the curtains and we would sit there all together and watch the thunderstorm. I LOVED those times and I’m pretty positive that’s how I learned to love thunderstorms and rain.

So as I sit here being cranky about the rain and wishing we’d get a break from it, I also am reminiscing about the great memories I have of it too !

Thought for Today
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing,
wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating;
there is really no such thing as bad weather,
only different kinds of good weather.

The sun came out...... FINALLY!!

And we RAN at the chance to get outside. It's been raining here for 2 weeks it seems non stop and we are expected to get lots more, so one day of sun and we bolted outside to enjoy the warmth!

We called a few friends and we all went down to the Duck Pond and had a picnic and fed the ducks and geese and occasional seagul. We had a great time, last time we were there the ducks were so overfed they didn't care if we even threw bread in, they weren't interested. But today was great, they were all over that bread......... well except when Tristan binged one of them in the head with a piece, whoops!

Here are some pics from our day :)

What a LONG day!!!

Me and the boys ran about a million errands today and all over the place. We ran from about 10am this morning til 10pm tonight, 12 full hours of driving and errands and groceries etc etc etc.

And then this evening we were lucky enough to be invited to a baseball game for a daughter of one of my good friends. It was awesome. I didn't realize how good these girls at ages 12-13 years old and younger can be, WOW! It was really fun to watch. My friend also has two little boys and they are Tristan and Jacob's age so the four of them just ran all over and got dirty and had lots of fun!

It was a really good day..... lots to do, lots accomplished and I'm BEAT! Now maybe the boys will sleep in tomorrow morning................. YEAH RIGHT! 7am, here we come!

I hope everyone had a good day :)

Memories...

Memories...

I saw this on one of my friend's blogs and I thought it would be fun to try...

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

A quick update from the Costa Clan

As most of you know.... John left super early Saturday morning for Guam, for 3 weeks. They wanted him there for 6am..... way too early in my opinion LOL.

Anyway, I talked to him on his layover at McChord AFB in Northern California, and then on his layover in Hawaii a few hours later. What a shame huh? Hawaii! But unfortunately he had to stay close to the plane so he didn't get to explore. But I think he talked me into just going there. I was bummed I couldn't go there with him to be with him this time, but oh well. We will have to go on family vacation, but just knock me out for the flying over water hours lol (which is all of them).

And a few hours ago he called me to let me know he got to Guam safe and sound. There was a big wait to get stuff off the plane and then to get them their home for 3 weeks.

Well.... I just wanted to update you all to let you know he is there and hopefully this 3 weeks will just FLY by!

Love you all!

UPDATE ON ANNABELLE....

She is perfectly fine! They found nothing....
Long story short, we aren't sure what they saw in the Xrays, but we did what we needed to do to keep our puppy safe :)

So we will be bringing her home tonight and I am so happy and excited that we don't have to keep her anywhere over night.

Thanks for all of the well wishes, our youngest furbaby is good :)

Our youngest fuzzy baby has to have surgery....

Miss Annabelle Lee is going in for surgery tomorrow.

I took her into the vet today because of some ear gunk, I figure an infection. I was right, she has some yeasty bacterial thing going on in her poor little ear :( So docs give her a couple injections (guess it was pretty bad) and tell me they are sending me home with some meds for 10 days.

So while I am there, I mention how she vomits quite often. Sometimes she gets into the kitty food for a couple bites before we catch her and occasionally she has a craving for some Kitty Rocca (litter box for those who didn't get that). So I mention that and say that she has looked thinner to me lately also. Now I know she just lost her huge ridiculous Newfie winter coat so I figured that was a big part of it. Well they weighed her and she's lost about 10 lbs since I last weighed her at home a few months back.

So we decide to go ahead and do some Xrays, possibly barium and possibly some blood work. I come back about 2 hours later...... and she needs surgery. They ended up doing the barium.... and she has a partial obstruction in her tummy :( My poor munchkin. So I guess tomorrow afternoon we will see what she injested......this should get interesting.

Anyway, we could use some good thoughts... as everyone who knows me probably figures, I'm worried! And Tristan was pretty worried tonight, he was upset that she would be gone all day tomorrow so I am taking him with me in the morning to drop her off, just me and him so he can feel better.

Anyway, thats our big exciting news today!

Here's a picture of my younest fur ball :)

Everything happens for a reason...

Tonight I received an email from one of my good friends that was much needed. I have been super sick lately with my disease and I have a nasty cold and laryngitis and have been hacking up a lung the past couple days. And my boys were driving me way past insane tonight lol. God love 'em. Its been rainy and I know they need to blow off steam! I feel that everything DOES happen for a reason, and this email was sent to me tonight for a purpose.

Anyway so I put them down to bed with some arguements and frustration......then I received this email and went straight to their rooms to kiss and hug and love them a little more!

This is an amazing video, please take a few minutes to sit down and watch the beautiful devotion between Father and Son.... and grab your kleenex!

I've been wanting to but couldn't figure out what I wanted. Well I saw a hairdo I liked and just went for it..... my hair falls out and breaks so easy now anyway so I just figure I might as well make it easy on myself!
Here are a bunch of pics from yesterday. I LOVE the cut, its so much fun and so funky!! I missed my hair being this short.

New members of our family...

Well we woke up to a surprise yesterday morning, and we are sooo excited! Our Molly fish had babies :) We had no idea she was even pregnant.... I thought she was just getting fat ha ha.

But we woke up to 50ish teeny tiny Molly babies in our tank and they are super cute :) We decided we are going to raise them the 8-9 weeks then either donate them to a pet store or get rid of them from our house, not sure yet but here are some pics of the new babies.
